Following the recent years evolution that transcended the current art scene in Quebec and abroad, the LOBE transformed itself into a territory of experimental studies in contemporary art by offering its programming to a curator’s in residency each two years. The curator is responsible for developing a singular thematic program that he or she will carry out over two years in collaboration with the artistic committee.

In order to promote this major project — advocating the advancement of knowledge and the development of the curatorial practice in visual arts — the LOBE is putting in place a thematic publication project, with each change of curators (publication on its regular programming) thus increasing the impact of the projects. This publication invites the curator to push the limits of the diffusion space and the taking of risks, renewing in a visionary momentum the problematic and the artistic potential emanating from the very function of the curation. This publication is part of a critical and theoretical research that contributes to the influence of the practices of artists in residency hosted at the LOBE.

Our curator’s call for proposals considers various approaches of researchers and theorists. This time, the Lobe has opted for an artist-curator whose role is to spread his artistic vision in parallel with the realization of a creative research, promoting the advancement of his own practice in echo with the trends of current art.
